AEW DYNAMITE October 16, 2024

WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS AND RESULTS BELOW

AEW DYNAMITE was broadcast live on TBS from the SAP Center in San Jose, CA!

Excalibur, Nigel McGuinness, and Tony Schiavone were the broadcast team for tonight’s event.

It’s Wednesday night and you know what that means!

You know it’s all about the BOOM!

Adam Cole kicked off the show, making his way to the ring!

Adam Cole: “I think I know the answer, but who’s ready for story time with Adam Cole, baybay? I want to talk about the worst human being I’ve ever met, and his name is MJF! Life is full of shades of gray and if I’ve learned anything over the past 12 months it’s that sometimes you have to fight evil with evil.

“MJF will tell you I destroyed his trust and broke a promise. Without trust you have nothing. I may be a lot of things, but stupid is not one of them. Anyone who thinks you should trust a guy like MJF is stupid. The MJF we see now is the real MJF. The one who has terrorized this company for five years. He only cares about himself. That is the real MJF.

“If I could describe MJF in one word it’s quite simple: fake. His hair and his brash attitude is fake. He’s a scared, insecure little boy. MJF can’t be trusted and everyone in that locker room is smiling and agreeing with everything I’m saying.

“And I do want to talk about our locker room because we have the best professional wrestlers in the world. It makes me sick to imagine the young talent looking at MJF and thinking that that is the path to success. MJF thinks that he’s someone special. He thinks that he’s the best there’s ever been in AEW. I swear with every fiber in my being, everybody hates you. I hate everything that you stand for.

“Max I’ve got an idea. Let’s not waste anymore time. How about right here, you bring yourself down this ramp and show me what kind of man you are!”

MJF’s music began to play, and he appeared on the big screen above the ramp.

MJF: “I’ve done a lot of growing, and I’ve learned a lot in the last decade. In this sport there is no such thing as trust. There are a lot of jackals. You tricked me and stabbed me in my back. Because of you I can never trust, and I will never trust again. The man I am today isn’t my fault. It’s yours. Yet these people cheer you. Typical. You’ll never get me inside that ring. You will die with a void of unfulfilled vengeance and for that empty, sad, cold little life, you can thank me later.”

Adam Cole: “Ok, Max, but you know I mean this when I say it. You can run but you can’t hide. When I get my hands on you, I will give you the ass beating of a lifetime and make you wish we never met!”

Renee Paquette interviewed ROH World Champion Mark Briscoe and asked for his reaction to Chris Jericho saying Briscoe cheated at WrestleDream!

Briscoe: “I can’t let Chris Jericho let my brother’s name come out of his mouth again! You’ve got your rematch. But we’ve got to crank it up. Next week on Dynamite, Mark Briscoe against Chris Jericho on Dynamite in a Ladder War!”

Queen Aminata drove the champion down with an air raid crash for a near fall. Queen Aminata followed up with a violent snapping neck breaker, but Mercedes kicked out at the two-count.

“That was a great win for the veteran,” said Tony Schiavone.

“A near perfect performance by the champion,” added Nigel.

Renee Paquette was backstage with Private Party, who asked for the Young Bucks to meet with them!

Quen: “We want another shot at the AEW World Championships.”

Matthew: “That was one of our toughest title defenses ever but…”

Nicholas: “That doesn’t work for us, brother.”

The Bucks walked away and Stokely Hathaway interrupted. Stokely said “Everyone knows Isiah is a singles star, but that’s none of my business.”

Kassidy looked at Marq Quen and said, “If that’s what it takes.”

New AEW World Champion Jon Moxley joined the beating of Orange. Dante Martin and the rest of Top Flight sprinted to the ring but Moxley and his crew were too much. Okada and the Bucks stood on the ramp and watched things unfold. More members of the locker room, including the Dark Order, tried to stop Moxley and his cohorts, but Mox, Marina, Claudio, Pac, and Wheeler couldn’t be stopped.

Moxley: “If you’re involved with All Elite Wrestling, you’re under attack. This is just the cost of doing business!”

“They set their sights on Orange Cassidy, the man who has been the face of AEW,” said Tony Schiavone.

Cameras caught up with The Elite backstage!

Matthew: “What happened out there is none of our business!”

Daniel Garcia: “You built this place five years ago and now you’re going to watch it go down in flames? How ‘bout you help out?”

Private Party formed an alliance with Garcia and they agreed to watch each other’s backs.

Swerve Strickland, I know you’re watching, and I want you to know that you need to reconsider your position because this is your future. And I believe that we need to finish the conversation that we started at Wrestle Dream. You and the standard of excellence, Shelton Benjamin!”

Renee Paquette was backstage with Swerve Strickland!

Swerve: “You want to come at the big dog here in All Elite Wrestling? Your answer? Yes, anywhere. Make it happen. You’re coming at the most dangerous man in AEW. Don’t fail, because I sure as hell won’t.”

Tony Schiavone was in the ring for the press conference for Don Callis and The Don Callis Family’s AEW International Champion “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita!

Don Callis was flanked by ROH World TV Champion “The Machine” Brian Cage and “The MurderHawk Monster” Lance Archer.

Callis: “Ladies and gentlemen I have something important to say. I thought we should have a press conference but there are no real journalists in pro wrestling, so I figured I’d conduct the press conference myself. Who better to take the tag titles than Archer and Cage. But there’s more good news to come. I present to you Kyle Fletcher and the new AEW International Champion “The Alpha” Konosuke Takeshita!

“The Alpha and I are going to go to every corner of the globe to defend that title!”

Takeshita: “I will defend this title all over the world. All wrestlers listen up. If you want this belt, come on and take it!”

Callis: “Last but not least, I’d like to ask for all of you to show some decorum because it’s been a difficult week for Kyle Fletcher.”

Fletcher: “All I have heard is why, Kyle, why? But that’s the problem. Everyone wants to talk about Will Ospreay when the Don Callis Family is having its biggest night in history. You people want to know why I did what I did? Too bad!”

Don Callis: “All you need to know. This version of the Don Callis Family has never been stronger than it is today!”

Renee Paquette was backstage with AEW Women’s World Champion “The Glamour” Mariah May!

Mariah: “Where is the competition? Bring me someone from Japan or Mexico. Does anyone here want to work? AEW is where the best wrestle? It’s where the best fear the Glamour!”

Anna Jay jumped on to the scene and took a swing at Mariah and inadvertently decked Christopher Daniels!

Renee Paquette interviewed Ricochet!

Ricochet: “Despite what Don Callis has to say, Takeshita didn’t beat myself and Will on the same night; he beat Will. I have one goal in AEW and that is to become champion. I’ll be at Collision this Saturday. I will show you, Takeshita, or anyone else who wants to show up, why I am out of this world.”

There’s one person who keeps putting his nose in my business. I think you guys know. Takeshita, you seem to stick your nose in my business every chance that you get and it’s starting to be a little annoying. He’s the new champion and that’s ok.

“Takeshita, it doesn’t matter where you go in this world, yes, you are champion, but just know, wherever you go, I will be waiting here to kick your ass! Tony Schiavone was in the ring to interview “Hangman” Adam Page!

Jay White jumped into the ring, landed some shots, and Hangman limped away.

Jay White: “Where are you going? I’m right here where you want me! You can hobble away but you can’t hide. I know how much that leg hurts you and that I will always have your number. If it wasn’t for Christian Cage saving you, I’d be 5-0.

“But nothing changes the fact that when the bell rings, you can’t measure up to the Switchblade. I know I haven’t seen the last of you, but you haven’t seen the last of the Switchblade!”

Renee Paquette was backstage trying to get a word with AEW Women’s World Champion “The Glamour” Mariah May!

Mariah May: “Anna Jay doesn’t belong in the ring with me. She doesn’t belong in the locker room with me!”

Mariah May threw Anna Jay’s luggage down the hall and Anna Jay and Mariah May began to brawl. Christopher Daniels had to separate the champion and the challenger!

We heard from The Don Callis Family’s “The Protostar” Kyle Fletcher!

Don Callis accompanied Kyle to the ring to be interviewed by Tony Schiavone.

Don Callis: “Kyle Fletcher has something important to say.”

Kyle Fletcher: “You people can boo me all you want. The only person I am here to talk to is Will Ospreay. It’s been 11 days, Will, since I cost you your International Championship. It’s been 11 days since you’ve been laid up in a hospital bed with numbness because of that herniated disc that you don’t tell anyone about. And this whole time you’ve been wondering why, Kyle, why?

“And oh boy, does that make me happy. What these idiots don’t realize is that they are just to much to blame for this as you are. When I got to AEW they said I was the next big thing. They said I had the brightest future in professional wrestling. And then you got here, Will. And instead of being the next big thing, they started calling me the next Will Ospreay.

“They said I looked like you, I wrestled like you, and I sounded like you. And I took everyone of those comparisons as an insult because in reality I am bigger, stronger, faster, and better than you in every single way.

“And maybe there was a time I would have liked those comparisons. Back in 2021 when I joined the United Empire, you were the kingpin. You had a killer instinct. You want to know why I left New Japan and came to AEW, Will? Let’s talk about what happened between you and Okada. He brought you into New Japan and became your brother and you stabbed him in the back. What happened between you and Kenny Omega? He left New Japan and you stepped up, but instead of being praised for that, they said you’d never fill his shoes. So you used the exact same screwdriver that I used to stab him and drop him on his neck with a Tiger Driver.

“I saw the writing on the wall, and I left to get out of your shadow because that’s the lesson you taught me. And that’s when Don taught me something. You never wanted me to reach my full potential or surpass you, because that’s the kind of person Will Ospreay is—selfish! I will give you one chance to save face with these people.

“You will face me in this ring next week. You will ignore the doctors’ orders to prove to these people that you give a damn about them. But one thing is for sure. I am sending you back to that hospital for a lot longer than 11 days. I will bury you in this mat with Tiger Driver after Tiger Driver and I will stand atop that mess as the one and only Protostar, Kyle Fletcher! But if I want to stand atop this company and take it to heights it has never seen before, I can be nothing like you.”

Don Callis handed Fletcher an electric hair razor. Fletcher said he was nothing like Will Ospreay and began to shave his head!

“I am nothing like you! I am nothing like you! I am nothing like you!” screamed Kyle Fletcher, completely intent on stepping out of the shadows of the man he once called brother, Will Ospreay.

Renee Paquette was backstage with Ricochet!

Ricochet: “I’m a man of my word and I told everyone I’d show up anywhere to get my hands on Takeshita, and that’s what I did showing up at Maple Leaf Pro this past weekend. So I’m calling anyone out this Friday for Rampage because I’m in a bad mood. But remember, payback is a bitch.”

MVP and Shelton Benjamin interrupted.

MVP: “Yes, it is! New company, new chapter, new beginnings. Let’s start off fresh.”

MVP handed Ricochet his business card.

“Unbelievable impact on that ladder!” said Daddy Magic.

Jericho went to climb a ladder in the center of the ring, but Mark was undeterred, pulling Jericho down the rungs. Jericho bashed Briscoe into the face of Mark Briscoe. Mark was busted wide open!

Jericho began to climb the ladder again. A bloodied and battered Mark Briscoe wasn’t done yet. Briscoe planted Jericho with a Death Valley Driver onto a ladder that was propped against the corner turnbuckles.

“This has become so deeply, deeply personal for Mark Briscoe,” said Excalibur.

Mark climbed the turnbuckles but Jericho blindsided Mark with a ladder shot! Mark shoved Jericho to the mat and followed up with a senton onto Jericho! Both men traded strikes atop the ladder. Mark Briscoe pushed the ladder with perhaps his last surge of energy, knocking Jericho and the ladder down!

The fans chanted “This is awesome! This is awesome!”

The ROH World title dangled high in the air while Mark and Chris brawled beneath it. Jericho tried a running bulldog on a ladder, but Mark countered, shoving Jericho onto the rungs. Mark climbed to the top of the ladder, looking down at Jericho, who was knocked across a table. “The Bad Apple” Bryan Keith ran down to interfere, but The Conglomeration’s Rocky Romero sprinted to the ring to even up the odds!

Mark Briscoe jumped off the top of the ladder with the froggy bow elbow drop! Mark decimated Jericho with the Jay Driller! Mark climbed to the top of the ladder, on the verge of retaining, but “the Redwood” Big Bill got into the ring and choke slammed Briscoe off the ladder and over the top rope, through tables on the arena floor! Big Bill put Jericho on his shoulders, assisting Jericho, and Jericho grabbed the ROH World title!

And new ROH World Champion… “The Learning Tree” Chris Jericho!

Tomohiro Ishii’s music began to play! Ishii walked onto the ramp with Rocky Romero!

Rocky shouted, “He’s back!”

“Give a huge assist to Big Bill because Jericho would not have captured that ROH World Championship without him!”

Up next: Adam Cole baybay!

Adam Cole: “Who’s ready for story time with…”

Roderick Strong and the Undisputed Kingdom interrupted!

Roddy: “Adam! Adam! We know you had to come out here last week to get some things about MJF off your chest! We get it. He used the Adam Cole brand to get the fans to actually care about him. And the fact that he didn’t even check in on your once when you were injured, but guess who did? We did.”

Mike Bennett: “In MJF’s head, he thinks this whole group was formed because of him. But it’s been bigger than him. We started it before him, and we’ll finish it without him.

Matt Taven: “It was never about Max. It was about us. And some of my favorite moments, Adam, are when we’re all together.”

Roddy: “And I want you to know how proud I am of you that you came back after working off your ass after that injury. As your best friend, I want Max first.”

Cole: “Roddy, you are damn right. We are going to finish what we started, and I think we should finish it tonight. So Max, come down here so the four of us can give you an undisputed ass whooping.”

MJF appeared on the big screen, receiving a massage.

MJF: “Remember that revenge I promised to dangle over your head. Greed is blinding you to the fact that you’ll never get your hands on me. Whichever one of you wins three consecutive matches first, I’ll give you a match at Full Gear. But I won’t be showing up until Full Gear. I hope one of you gets the happy ending you’re looking for because I know I will.”

Kyle O’Reilly was watching on a monitor backstage.

Renee Paquette interviewed Jamie Hayter backstage about Penelope Ford!

Hayter: “What she says is all BS. I never had anything handed to me. I earned everything. Penelope, you want to attack me from behind. But yet you’re nowhere to be found tonight. Two weeks from tonight, Dynamite, will you be there?”

Trios Match!

The House of Black—Malakai Black, Buddy Matthews, & Brody King

vs.

Kevin Koa, Jaden Monroe, & Pirata De La Muerte!

Black blasted Pirata De La Muerte with The End early. Black swept out Kevin’s legs. Buddy tagged in and stomped on Kevin Koa’s arm. Black punted Monroe and then Brody smashed Monroe with a senton. The three heads converged on Koa all at once in the corner! Matthews curb stomped Monroe face first and scored the pinfall!

“The House of Black didn’t even break a sweat,” said Tony Schiavone.

Buddy: “Now that’s he’s cleared, next week, Buddy Matthews against Adam Cole, baby!”

“We’ve got ourselves a challenge for next week,” said Daddy Magic.

Renee Paquette caught up with Adam Cole and the Undisputed Kingdom backstage!

Cole approached Buddy Matthews.

Cole: “You’ve got some sort of problem with me? Nothing else to say? What’s the deal?”

Buddy: “To prove one point.”

Cole: “And what’s that?”

Buddy: "That you’re fragile.”

Queen Aminata

vs.

“The Brickhouse” Kamille (with TBS Champion & NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion “The CEO” Mercedes Moné)!

Kamille cracked the Queen with a short arm lariat. Queen Aminata rocked Kamille with a knee strike and covered Kamille, but Kamille kicked out at the one-count. Kamille drove down Queen Aminata with a back breaker!

Queen Aminata smashed Kamille with a running elbow strike and then a snap neck breaker for a near fall! Mercedes watched on from ringside, very concerned. Aminata reversed a power bomb attempt for another near fall. Kamille hoisted up Queen Aminata in a back breaker and then planted Aminata.

Mercedes shook her head and yelled, “Finish her!”

Kamille drove down Aminata and then pinned her!

“Next week it’ll be Kamille against Kris Statlander on Dynamite!” said Tony Schiavone.

After the match, Kris Statlander walked down to the ring and got into Kamille’s face! Mercedes hit Kris with a cheap shot from behind, but Kris fought them off, two on one. Mercedes grabbed Statlander’s leg and Kamille seized the opportunity to strike!

An SUV pulled up backstage, and the AEW contingency thought it was Mox and company!

It was actually Christian Cage and the Patriarchy in the SUV. Kip Sabian was hiding between two cars when Christian Cage and the Patriarchy spotted him and chased Kip to the ring!

Renee Paquette approached HOOK and asked who HOOK saw on the security footage. HOOK said it was the scumbags in the ring who were responsible for attacking Taz.

HOOK went after The Patriarchy in the ring, but Kip Sabian hit HOOK with a low blow until Christian Cage told Kip Sabian to get into the corner. After Christian Cage cracked HOOK in the back with his metal clipboard, Nick Wayne dropped HOOK with Wayne’s World! Christian Cage spiked HOOK with the Kill Switch on the metal clipboard case!

“Listen to me, Tyler, it’s not what it seems,” said Christian Cage.

& AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks—Matthew & Nicholas Jackson

vs.

Daniel Garcia & Private Party—Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen!

Zay tagged in and both teams had a stand off! Garcia swarmed Perry! Quen and Zay splashed Nicholas and Jack in the turnbuckles. The Bucks blasted Zay and Garcia with superkicks. The Elite were working in concert, in the driver’s seat.

Stokely Hathaway was in the front row, cheering on Private Party.

Marq Quen got the hot tag and cleaned house on the Elite, taking them on three on one! The Bucks clobbered Quen with a pair of superkicks. Perry planted Zay with a poison rana and Nicholas covered Zay for a near fall!

The Bucks hit Zay with a stomp-power bomb combination! Garcia swept the leg of Perry and sent him hard into the barricade. Private Party used the Silly String on Matthew with Zay cradling Matthew and picking up the win!

“Let’s hear it for the kids! Perseverance and determination! What a win!” said Tony Schiavone.

Zay: “Young Bucks, I think we proved tonight that we’ve got your number. We want a rematch for your AEW Tag Team Championships! Wait, Young Bucks, I have an offer that you guys will not turn down. If you give us a match for those AEW Tag Team Championships and we lose, Private Party splits up for good!”

Matthew: “I like that!”

Nicholas: “You’re on!”

Zay: “Say no more! Next week, Private Party versus the Young Bucks and if we lose, Private Party is done forever!”

Marina Shafir pulled up in a truck outside the arena. The AEW contingency looked baffled, wondering where the rest of Moxley and his crew were.

Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta ambushed Private Party and Daniel Garcia in the ring, whacking them with steel chairs!

“It was a diversion!” said Tony Schiavone.

Moxley grabbed Chuck Taylor and threw Chuck into the ring! Claudio and Wheeler stomped on Chuck. They wrapped a chair around Chuck’s head and stomped on it! Orange ran to the ring, but he was too late to save his friend!

“Guys, this is bad news,” said Daddy Magic.

“Look at the face of Orange Cassidy,” replied Tony Schiavone.

“There is nothing sacred to Moxley and his crew. This is not what professional wrestling is about,” added Excalibur.
